The honest maths

What does online ordering actually cost you?

Marketplace apps are free to join and then take a slice of every order for as long as you use them. A flat monthly plan costs the same whether you sell ten orders or a thousand. Below is the arithmetic, on your numbers, including the fees we charge.

Your numbers, not ours

Enter what you run through DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub today. We will show what the same orders cost on a commission-free plan -- including our subscription and the card processing fee, so nothing is hidden from the comparison.

Your marketplace volume
$
20%

DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub typically land between 15% and 30% on delivery, less on pickup. Your real rate is on your statement — it is worth looking up.

30%

Most restaurants keep their marketplace listings for discovery and move a share of repeat customers to direct ordering. We default to a deliberately conservative 30%.

An estimate, not a quote. Marketplace rates vary by agreement -- your real blended rate is on your statement, and it is worth looking up. Card processing is Stripe's standard rate; SwiftServe takes no percentage of your food sales.

What you are paying for

A percentage compounds. A flat fee does not.

A commission is a tax on your success: the better your week, the more it takes. A subscription is the same number every month, so every extra order you sell is worth more to you than the last one. That is the whole argument, and the calculator above is just it applied to your figures.

Common questions

Ordering costs, answered plainly

It varies by agreement and by whether the order is delivery or pickup, but published rates commonly land between 15% and 30% of the order value for delivery, and lower for pickup. Your own blended rate is on your statement -- it is worth looking up before comparing anything, including us.

A flat monthly subscription starting at $20 for Lite, which includes an online menu and ordering for one location. We take no percentage of any order. Card payments are processed by Stripe at their standard rate, which is paid to Stripe rather than to us.

No contract -- it is month to month and cancellable any time. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. A setup service is available if you would rather we did the work for you, but it is optional and nothing on the standard plans requires it.

Probably, if you leave entirely -- they are a discovery channel and that is worth something. Most kitchens do not leave: they keep the listings for new customers and move their regulars to direct ordering, which is why the calculator above defaults to shifting only 30% rather than assuming everything moves.

Then a flat fee may not beat a commission, and the calculator will show you that honestly -- it can return a negative number. Commission wins while you are small; a subscription wins as soon as your volume grows past it. The crossover point is exactly what the tool is for.

Only card processing, which goes to Stripe. Plans include a monthly order allowance, and if per-order processing is enabled on your account, orders beyond it appear as their own line on your invoice at the rate shown for your plan.
